NAØ RETURNS TO HER METALCORE ROOTS WITH NEW SINGLE, 'ISLANDS'
St. Louis, MO, 20 March 2026 – Following her debut solo release last year, “Funny Bone,” Naø is back with another new single, “Islands,” a metal-leaning rock track that confronts the illusion of safety in isolation.
Her haunted lyricism and slow-burn songwriting make for the perfect blend with the harsh vocals of Naø’s history as the story behind the song unfolds. Filled to the brim with layers upon layers of guitar textures, atmospheric tension (always), and a steady pulse of vocals, the song captures the push and pull between self-protection and the deep human longing for connection.
“It started as a journal entry,” Naø says. “A reflection on how we all got to be this lonely in a world that’s more ‘connected’ than ever. Eventually, that reflection turned into grief over my own loneliness, acceptance of my role in it, and a prayer to fight the current that pulls me further out.”
On the heels of “Funny Bone’s” success, Naø returned to producer Kameron Walker for her second solo release. “The song that came out of the studio is very different from the one that went in,” she adds. “We had a lot of fun seeing how we could push its limits and find the right balance of space and intensity.”
“Islands” marks another step into Naø’s evolving solo identity; stretching her songwriting, honing her artistic place at the intersection of quiet and loud, and unearthing a sound and a message that feel both heavy and intimate.
“The tide always comes, and I have to learn to love deeply and hold loosely,” she continues. “If we stay stuck in virtual relationships to keep a safe distance, or become overprotective of our own hurt, we’ll create these untouchable worlds and we’ll forget that the beauty is found in the risk and in the mess.”
“Islands” is now available on all major music platforms. Listeners can also follow Naø on Instagram for more.

About Naø:
Naø is a writer and solo artist emerging from the shadows of the heavy music scene. Born into music, Naø reached for every instrument she could and found her way to metal and hardcore through both her study and her existential restlessness. Living in the tension of faith and doubt, life and death, peace and anguish, she found music that told the whole truth and never looked back. After fronting a metalcore band for nearly 10 years, Naø now returns solo—reclaiming her story and chaos through a genre-blurring sound and lyrics that put beauty and brutality toe-to-toe. Fusing the raw emotional weight of emo songwriting with the crushing intensity of melodic metalcore and the ghostly textures of indie rock, the sound that surfaces is fractured, poignant, and utterly real.
